Creating Safe

Pathways to Work

Not Just Recruitment — Cultural Change.

Buneen Employment is part of the Buneen Group, a First Peoples-led organisation focused on systemic change. We work with both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander jobseekers and culturally committed employers to build pathways to success that are safe, supported, and long-term. From recruitment to coaching, from cultural safety training to workplace support, everything we do is grounded in healing, dignity, and strength.

Why We're Different

The SAFE Method

A First Peoples-led approach to lasting change.

Developed by Buneen founder Shawn Andrews, the SAFE Method is grounded in lived experience, cultural knowledge, and systems thinking.

We use it to guide everything we do — from recruitment and coaching to workplace reform — because we know that success only happens when people feel safe.

SAFE stands for:

  • Self – Confidence, wellbeing, identity

  • Agency – Voice, choice, leadership

  • Family – Kinship, support, intergenerational healing

  • Community – Culture, belonging, collective strength

  • Organisation – Systems, policies, safe environments

It’s how we create real change — in people, workplaces, and systems.
